Going faster than light

If you could somehow completely nullify matter completely, so it's massles (Ghostlike I guess), I've read that it wouldn't be subject to certain principles, allowing it go go faster than light.

What would happen, if traveling at this speed, it 'turned off' it's anti-mass field? Since it's already going FTL, than would it be like a tachyon, unable to drop below light speed?

There is a well established theory that there is an entire universe existing on the upper side of the light barrier. In it cosmic rays (light speed protons) are pieces of it falling back into the sublight realm.
