Well, humanity is practicing and trying. There are so many implications. If this technology, when perfected, gets into the wrong hands, perhaps ALL pregnancies would be edited to the liking of the "master".

I can see the wrong hands banning normal pregnancies and creating/editing its own in a dish, eliminating races and such. Should we be doing this just because we think we CAN? There is so much morally wrong with this, IMHO. All humans will be the same in a few thousand years if governments get a hold of this.

 
Don't clones have a much shorter lifespan than people? I'm pretty sure unless you clone a fetus right out of the womb, it will live a noticeably shorter life than its counterpart.

Perhaps, but cloning is basically reproduction without sperm, which is scary. Some humans want to make us all sexless or binary. And with this editing, they could make it happen. Will all humans look the same in 5000 years? On a brighter note, they could edit out genetically passed diseases, but then big Pharma and insurance companies would lose money and eventually no longer exist.

While cloning could do some good, I don't think it's worth the trouble. Couldn't they also create "perfect" human beings with high intellect and physical capabilities? Would these clones ruin the rest of regular humanity? These aren't things I want to ever have to deal with.
