Finding John Titor...

A hoax or not?

In investigating who John titor really may be, has anyone made a note of what time he made his posts? If he truly was a time traveller, then I would hope he brought money with him to support himself, and no patterns would exist to when or what time he posted.

The time of when the posts were made would be an indication of what kind of work he was involved with, or if he was a college student.

A professional job, as in a scientific type postion, would allow John to post mostly in the evenings and weekends. If his job was non-professional his posts would be in seemingly random order, since his "shift" would vary week to week.

If John was a student, then the posts would taper off during the finals period of time. The posts also would be random, but a pattern would develope as the posts would revolve around class schedules.

This would also allow the investigation to start narrowing the location of John. The use of language would indicate where he is located. The West Coast slang is different than East Coast. And I am fairly certain a person from the future would not know what is "cool" to say during our time.

As an example, In one of my sci-fi books, a time traveller went far into the future. She decided to stay and when the inhabitants were building her a place to live, she stated she wanted the water closet in a cetain location. This caused quite alot of confusion, because they didnt know why she wanted a closet full of water.

OvrLrdLegion,

We've done that on the "other" board and even compared his posting times to known events in the lives of suspected relatives. We didn't find much in the way of a correlation to either a specific work shift, finals schedules for either semester or quarter school schedules or specific seasons.

He had a tendency to post late at night up to 0400 but he also posted during various parts of the daylight hours.

We spent quite a long time doing statistical linguistic analysis and had some interesting results when we ran a Chi Square analysis of the frequency of use of specific words in Titor's concordance against members and associates of the John Titor Foundation.

We obviously don't have a concordance of 20k - 100k words for Titor or anyone else but we did conclude that there is a greater than 75% chance that "Buzzmaker" wrote the Titor posts based on the Chi Square analysis.

Actually I should state the last more precisely. The Chi Square analysis indicates that there is less than a 25% chance that the similarity between Titor's frequency of use and Buzzmaker's frequency of the use of those words is random.

It's very interesting but it's not enough. And we don't know who "Buzzmaker" really is.

Bet the I.R.S. knows who he is and where to find him.

Seriously, I guess I am a little late for in depth research or any investigation. I always miss out on the fun. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
