That is one issue in the show Extant. Some people are afraid Androids will eventually get too smart and simply destroy humanity, so there are people on the show wanting to destroy the child android. It's a valid concern. After all, it would still be a machine basing all decisions on pure logic, wouldn't it?

@PaulaJedi mentioned this show in another thread, but I didn't want to derail her topic by asking about it.

Have you guys seen it? I've got them all DVRd but I haven't bothered to watch it yet - Is it worth the time? Who here has seen it?

 
You know I've seen it, but I find it very original and creative. It takes place in the future but not TOO FAR into the future, so you get to see cool inventions that could really happen one day, like a thin, transparent phone.

You'll love the technology and inventions like the computer in the mirror. I can see this all coming, too. The only issue I have is that they still use 2014 cars, except they have the ability to self-drive. But, I'm sure the aim was to make it not too far off into the future.

 
I believe the ratings for this show were better than most. Overall good ratings. But still no update on whether the show will be renewed.
