Over the last few days, I conducted a simple experiment to determine the preparation of those on this forum for time travel. The hypothesis was that most will be unable to think outside the social confines of their current time, thereby being grossly offended by subjects and remarks regarded as taboo in the present time, but not necessarily in other eras. The experimental method was to post new topics with controversial, and even offensive, opinions and propositions, as judged from the present; also, replies were made to other posts which, while logical within a certain mode of thinking, were found to be unacceptable to those reading them. If one travelled to the past or future, he or she would inevitably encounter such attitudes, and, if they reacted so extremely as has been done here, they would give themselves away, attracting excess negative attention. It might even put themselves in danger, depending on the era and their response. The outcome of the experiment verified my hypothesis, showing that all who replied were unable to cope with perspectives extremely different than their own. Therefore, I conclude that, even if the technology were available, the people here would be unprepared for time travel.
