So now this is not just "the US against the world". And even though I am sure there are some people with twisted minds who are going to blame all this on the US, what we are now really seeing is the other major players in world security (at least those of us with solid Western values) coming to agreement that Iran is not the type of state we want to see develop nukes.

So now the major players in Europe are agreeing to the next step, referring Iran to the UN Security Council. Perhaps now there is at least a small amount of vindication for the US in wishing to combat radical Islamist fundamentalist (and fascist) advances in the world? I am sure there are plenty of US-haters who will find some way to twist this into "it's all the US's fault".

Meanwhile we see how at least 345 Muslims are stampeded to death during a religious ceremony. Let's see how people try to blame THAT one on the US! I bet good ole Osama has some sort of propaganda angle on that one. He'll blame it on the Saudi Royal Family, and link that to their support from the US.

The world had better wake up and realize the US is not "the Beast".

If agencies are perverted and something bad was done, then there is always a form of recompense.

Is, were the actions of Osama Bed Laden, a recompense, for a past perversion?

This may be why, Osama came across as a type of weird Santa Clause, advising Americans to be careful, during their trick or treat practices?

Creedo I think Raz is because of the comments about Java being slow. Other people all say Java's fast and it's COOL and rah rah rah they love java. Raz I'm sorry if I weired you out, I was just expressing my highest regards.

I'm not sure this is an appropriate analogy, as the Star Trek Prime Directive was based on the fact that the subject culture was non-spacefaring, and would be presumed to have no knowledge of or ability to threaten Starfleet. Furthermore, as you imply, I do believe that the Prime Directive would not apply if Starfleet knew about a culture (and vice-versa) that was hostile to Starfleet and its allies (US and Israel, in our case) and had make statements that one should be "wiped off the map". I'm pretty sure they would've sent in Kirk to kick some alien ass if they were developing weapons that would threaten earth and/or Starfleet.

But then again we will never know the "true" answer since Gene Roddenberry is no longer with us! /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The point I am making about Iran is that their president's statements about wanting to wipe out Israel are clearly "on the record". Just imagine if Hitler had done this, AND was working to develop nuclear capability in today's world. It really is the same thing. Iran is clearly hostile towards Israel, and this sort of thing should be nipped in the bud BEFORE it turns into another situation similar to Hitler and Germany in WW II.

Latest update:

1) Iran ups the ante by saying they will lock-out IAEA inspectors if they are referred for Security Council action (most likely sanctions). It seems Iran is following a strategy that will allow them to make nuclear weapons without the watchful eye of the International Community.

2) Protest in Berlin AGAINST allowing Iran to proceed.

Gee...looks like the world is waking up to the danger on our doorstep. Thanks Germany. Thanks France. Thanks England. Perhaps the US can follow your lead on this one? We'd be happy to, as long as you don't wimp-out and back down. Please Europe, show the world that you can help make the world a better place through strength. Help the US bear the burden of peace and freedom! Become another example of how facism must be confronted and defeated.

I say let the Iranian people have the nukes, let them use the things against the Israelis, then we should all see how futile nuclear war really is. Maybe then after so many millions of people have died, then maybe we will see the light, and get rid of nuclear weapons, and go back to hit eaching other over the head with big sticks?
Oh, and the English do not wimp out on anything, so don't insult us, enough people in europe etc hate americans already, don't make it easier than it already is to hate you all more :-)
Anyways, after the middle east I am sure the usa is next on the euro agenda.:-)
I think we're due to invade Florida sometime, make inroads on those facist florida beaches, check out the immoral beachbabes, and generally invade all the clubs and bars, just to make sure you understand, ;-)
 
I didnt hear about 1.. Instead of sanctions it might have been better to propose a different type of organization that involved everyone with nuclear safety experience? A group that tours every facility and after you see the whole tour you can build a plant.
