In my prior timeline, Emperor Julius Ceasar (yes different spelling from current Caesar) was the first Emperor of Imperial Rome! When he was assassinated, he had already "claimed the crown" so to speak, and all Ceasars were Ceasar because he was the very FIRST Ceasar. He was synonymous with the term there!  I understand that nothing changed from that timeline into this one, and I think I have traced down where the historical difference occurred. Any thoughts on a timeline where Emperor Julius Ceasar was the first Emperor?

Edit: I apologize for taking the name of this group literally! I thought people were discussing their own personal experienced alternate histories, as I did! I was completely clueless as to this being a form of fiction. I am leaving this here for anyone else who has experienced actual Alternate History and might care to discuss, for example, the effect of Hitler having Blue Eyes on the quality of his art. Or how I was able to determine by looking at Monet's art here, that he was far less visually impaired than mine had been!  This is the alternate history I find fascinating and study!

When he proclaimed himself Emperor or Imperator he was considered, for all intents and purposes to be the King of Rome, which under the Republic was considered a very big no-no. So when he went to Egypt to visit Cleopatra he was not only considered a king, but a living God, on par with Cleopatra's Pharaoh status as a living God as well. But In this case his diety was conquering hers. Perhaps you have seen the movie Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor and in that movie when she came to Rome Rex Harrison playing Emperor Ceasar is wearing the purple denoting his royal status, this is residue from my timeline when he was the First Emperor. I ask you does this look like a"Dictator for Life" or  Emperor Julius Ceasar ?
