E-mail from Nova (yeah, THAT Nova)

Temporal Navigator
I got an e-mail from the Nova television program advising me that a time travel episode would be coming up and that I should tell you all. Here goes:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>
NOVA explores the mind-boggling possibility of making honest-to-goodness time machines on "Time Travel," airing Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at 9pm ET on PBS (check local listings), Web site premiering on Friday, October 8 at (www.pbs.org/nova/time).

When Carl Sagan asked Kip Thorne for help with a plot problem in his novel Contact, he never dreamed Thorne would come up with an idea suggesting that time machines might one day be possible. While most of their work is theoretical (and is illustrated in the program with special effects), some research is actually taking place in the lab. "Time Travel" looks at a controversial demonstration purported to send a signal faster than light; at an experiment to create exotic matter, a necessary ingredient for a wormhole time machine; and at supposed evidence of photons emerging from a parallel universe, which might be a realm of transit for time travelers.

Visit our Web site to get a RealAudio listen to Carl Sagan's insightful and delightfully droll views on time travel, learn how to think like Einstein, find out why one science writer is so sure time travel is possible, get the teacher's guide, resources, additional program information, and more.

Hope you tune-in and log-on!
