Dreamtime: are we contacted from the beyond?

Persephone

The term "dreamtime" is from the aborigines of Australia. They speak of a time in the past, in which things were different.

What is the purpose and significance of dreams? Are they merely a processing mechanism of our brains during our down time? Or do our dreams hold significance to our lives?

Do they lend us insight? Is it possible for those who have passed from our plane of existence to contact us in our dreams? Can "beings" or "aliens" contact us in our dreams?
Are there religious revelations bestowed upon us in our dreams?

I put it to you, considering modern science has not fully explained why we have dreams, what are their purpose? Do they have meaning?

Are some dreams different than other dreams?

I try to answer your questions.

What is the purpose and significance of dreams?
1- the purpose of a dream is to reflect upon the things you have done during the day or during our lives. They are there to teach us, and sometimes to nurture us when we feel insecure.

Are they merely a processing mechanism of our brains during our down time?
2- They are a a mechanism for learning but also the side effect of a highly developed mind, and eons of instinct. Dreaming also occurs when you are awake.

Or do our dreams hold significance to our lives?
3- Yes, dreams hold great signifigance to our lives. They tell us things we are afraid to consciously realize, and reinforce our way of thinking.

Do they lend us insight?
4- Yes, they lend us insight. That is the dreams main purpose.

Is it possible for those who have passed from our plane of existence to contact us in our dreams?
5- I cannot answer this question as I do not understand "plane of existance" or exactly what your talking about. But I feel confident in saying no either way.

Can "beings" or "aliens" contact us in our dreams?
6- I don't know about aliens but if we are not able to physically hear something while dreaming we are not able to recieve the information. Though I'm sure in the future we will be able to send information directly to the brain from long distances.

Are there religious revelations bestowed upon us in our dreams?
7- We can recieve "revalations" while wether they are religous or not.

I put it to you, considering modern science has not fully explained why we have dreams
8- Modern or future science will never fully explain ANYTHING, but the current knowledge of why we have dreams is sufficient for our needs.

what are their purpose?
9- We dream to learn.

Do they have meaning?
10- Dreams always have meaning, even if you can't understand the meaning.

Are some dreams different than other dreams?
11- Yes, some dreams can be different from other dreams. It could be said that they are all different from each other since the "programming" for a dream is so dynamic and unpredictable.

Dear Raidzuo,

Your responses to my inquiries concerning dreams where spot on, and quite sensible!!! But mostly I am questioning the specific times in which we awaken, and feel as though we have "manufactured" a dream that is significantly different and important from our normal dreaming experience.

Some people talk of lucid dreaming, some people talk of revelatory dreams or visions. If one has had such an experience, It is quite clear that it is not of the normal mode of experience.

Psychologically, these things can often be explained away. But sometimes, there are prophecies, or strange insights that can be wrought from experiences such as these, that can not be entirely explained by conventional scientific means.

There are even those that hone these skills, and are able to call them up at will, during waking time.

How does science explain this? It doesn't. It tries to ignore it. To disrepudiate it.

I will go on record to say that I have had EXPERIENCES both from dreaming and when I am awake that have been oddly accurate.

If not for that, I would not believe in such things.

I do not think they these experiences are unusual, but think that we all share them. I only want to understand them more clearly.

DREAMS, t /ttiforum/images/graemlins/confused.gifhe making of our desires? or the insights of our heritage?
