Do you as a consumer citizen, feel A.I. is threatening?

Do you reading this asked, feel that with the new operating systems coming out, such as the proposed Longhorn and fuzzy logic, that more self intelligent systems, would pose a threat to human beings?

The Longhorn has a self configurable internal A.I. core to its o.s..

Fuzzy logic is already popular in Japan as well as starting to be used by such companies as Dell computer.

Do you as a citizen user, feel that a more moderately developed A.I. capable system, would be a threat to your freadoms, or be an added feature which would improve the quality oi of you existence?

Note, with more and more advanced computerized systems out there, it is strongly suggested that we both explore space and colonize nearby planets, as soon as possible.

A fifteen year wait to both the moon, Mars and other points out there, is not suggested.

*This has to do with potential cannibalercy, held in computers and bots, as they would then be competitors, within a socially closed system.e.g., not good!?

No, because I understand it, as well as understanding its limitations.

Any single AI solution has limitations. This means it should only be used for portions of a problem. There are plenty of studies that have looked at integration of several different AI techniques in a single system. I have written such a paper with the problem domain being airspace and air traffic control. A blending of neural nets, fuzzy logic, and chaos dynamics solves the overall goal much better than any one solution.

Here we go again. Do you have any concept of CONSTRAINTS? I think Bush is doing the right thing in setting out his Mars exploration initiative. He and his administration are also showing that they understand fiscal responsibility in setting the timelines they have set! It is going to be difficult enough to get the defined timeline's budget approved through Congress. Any attempt to accelerate it will cost quite a bit more money. Bush Sr. made that mistake with his Mars initiative, and Bush Jr. is dislpaying that the lesson from that presidency was learned.

Analogy: You can say that you really want to get to Paris from New York in 2 hours. But if you don't have the means to afford a seat on the Concorde, are you going to "suggest" to yourself that you cannot live with a normal flight? One must learn to live within constraints, even if one does not like them!

No one likes contraints. But those who ignore them do so at their own peril. Just ask anyone who has filed for Chapter 7 or 11 bankruptcy.

If he was tied up how would he phone you on his cell?

AI in my computer would be a good thing, then I wouldn'y have to get angry because it would fix itself, I mean stoping non-responding programs, it would be great.
