Dissolving perspectives

Temporal Novice
I can recall reading somewhere that some people have had experiences which seem to involve a momentary dissolution of their present environment or a sort of transmogrification of this environment into another time, so for instance they are presented with the sights and sounds of what appear to be a 19th Century city streetscape. Does anyone know anything at all about this phenomena ?

I have had such an experience. But I did not here anything...except for
a humming sound. I was walking down the street and all of a sudden
everything began to dissolve. Like the atoms or particles began to
separate into nothing. All i saw was white for a second which felt
longer. I dont know what this was but I think I have a had a really
cool experience. :)

creedo>What this happenstance is caused by, are timeshifts.

One, this may be by an agency unknown, that wants you to experience this change in time locals.

Two this may be due to a time wave phenomenon, as time displacement, or how time sits, is considered, a locale.

Three, due to the presence of a large underground object, such as a meteorite.

This may have something to do with the person themselves, such as an atypical physiology, or anatomy.

There are two examples here.

One was two wimen whop had flashed back to the time of Versailles to walk in another time, during Marie Antoinette.

These two wimen were caught in a time change of some sort.

Two, the Jersey Triangle, to where such large items as a complete bakery truck, full of bakery, along with the drive had disappeared along this spot of road, without a trace.

I suggest that you do a search with the words, time slips or similar phrases, in order to verify what I have said here.

Re: Time slips, answer

Here are some examples I've come across in relation to Time Slips and Time Travel

"It may be that many persons have been teleported back and forth, without knowing it, or without having more than the dimmest impression of the experience." Charles Fort.

FT98: While walking through St George’s Circus, Southwark, one recent Sunday morning, I noticed a piece of paper on the ground. It was a cheque, drawn on the Union Bank of London and made out to Rev LB White, from the churchwardens of St Mary’s in the sum of five pounds. It was dated 8 July 1879 and had been cashed. It was a damp day, but the cheque was completely dry. Jonathan Howard (by email)

FT132: In early 1983, when I was 49, I travelled to the Cheetham area of Manchester for my son’s wedding. The day before the ceremony I walked to the church to become familiar with the route. I had never been to Manchester before. Glancing across a main road, I saw a rather dilapidated cemetery with rusty railings, very long grass and what I took to be a chapel with a square tower.

I can’t recall if I glanced away and then returned my gaze, or if what took place happened before my eyes. Suddenly the scene changed: the cemetery was neat; the streaked and dirty yellow brickwork clean; the railings newly-painted. The clouds were replaced by blue sky and sunshine.

Several figures were walking quite quickly along an unseen path to my right. They were two women about 30 years old; the one nearer to me had her hair up, with a small circular hat of flowers and a cream-coloured parasol to shade her and her companion. She wore a long tight white dress that swung from side to side in a corkscrewing motion, a frilly blouse with a high collar and white gloves almost to her elbows. Her companion was shorter, with loose shoulder-length hair. They were in animated conversation, too far away for me to overhear.

Other figures on the path, about 20ft (6m) before and behind this couple, were less clear. Very quickly the whole scene vanished and the drab present-day returned.

About 10 or 15 minutes later I reached a road junction. Opposite was a patio area bordered by four or five modern-fronted shops set in a semi-circle. I scanned other shops to my right and turned once more to the patio, ready to cross the busy road when traffic allowed. It now had four or five wooden tables set with chairs. Several men were sitting at the tables, dressed poorly in thick grey flannel and large flat caps. The shops behind them looked empty with sparse window displays, I’m not certain of what.

Around the edge of the pavement were three raised steps, with bollards at about six feet (1.8m) intervals. The whole scene was grey, rather like an old photograph. I had the impression that the men were outside a public house or café. They were in conversation, but I could hear nothing, not even the modern traffic passing me. A sense of ‘unworldliness" pervaded and yet it seemed familiar in some way. Then it all vanished, to be replaced by the modern scene. Derek Gibson, Wadebridge, Cornwall.

FT133: Some time in the 1930’s, my aunt – in her 20s, unmarried and named Beryl Jay – was walking home along Hayling Avenue, Portsmouth, close to the Boating Lake, when she saw a detachment of soldiers walking up the road towards her. It struck her that they looked odd in some way, but it wasn’t until they had passed and turned up a side road that she realised they were dressed in uniforms from World War I – their puttees in particular caught her eye. She turned round and ran to the corner of the side road, hoping to get another glimpse, thinking that perhaps they were taking part in a film; but there was no sign of them. Since this was a long straight road lined with Victorian terraced houses, there was nowhere they could have turned off. She felt that this had been a "time slip". Sonya Porter, Woking, Surrey.

FT135: While sitting in a café in Covent Garden last summer, I noticed out of the corner of my eye across the street what appeared to be a man walking backwards. I looked again more attentively, but saw nothing. During the course of my hot chocolate I kept a close eye on the spot where I had seen the figure, and about five minutes later I saw him again. Nobody else seemed aware of the "person"; he seemed solid and real, but disappeared again after about 40 seconds. He again walked backwards, and seemed to be wearing a suit from the 1950s. He gave me the impression of "flickering" in and out of existence. I kept watch in the hope of a third sighting, but with no luck. I wondered if this could be a ghostly recording "rewinding". We hear about spectral images playing out past events, but surely they must rewind too? Does anyone have similar stories? James Laurent Toure (by email).
