The small hunting party decided to stop for the day, although it was not past the afternoon the Indian Sun was blazing down like an unbrandished steal pot. The several men escorting Sir Daniel Huxley were all scattered below a large tree. They were all trying to get their breath and cool off a little before the old Englishman decided to do something else.

Sir Huxley, not a year older than forty, was a robust hardheaded gentleman who was as obstinate as the small mule carrying their hunting equipment and provisions. Nonetheless, he'd also been affected by the scarring Sun and was resting underneath the scarce shade of another tree.

"Should we call it a day, Monroe?", asked Huxley to the one man in the group who did not seem affected by the heat.

"We should not my friend. What we are really looking for should not be far away." As he said this he looked inside a small belt pouch of his and took out one of the most unussual pair of spectacles Daniel had seen.

"What are those, glasses?" asked the Englishman as he gulped in a cup of water from his canteen.

Monroe looked at the device on his hand and smiled, "These are better than that fancy telescope of yours."

He put them on and immediately he began to scan the area with all the benefits of well balanced GPS system integrated with a quantum signature identifier.

Everything was as always, the confortable warmth of the Stream was levelling away, leaving behind as she settled into that temporal frame, the myriad of temporal filaments that made up that particular reality. Then Rebecca felt as his oneness with the Stream began to differentiate and she became a point, then she pushed forward finding her second dimension, then her third, her fourth and her fifth. As the brilliant light of the Stream went away as swiftly as the ocean waves retreat from the sea shore she found herself adjusted to that reality's consciousness and immediately felt the prescence of four men around her, one of them shouted, "Seize her!"

Then a hit to her neck, then darkness.

A millisecond before loosing consciousness she thought, "I should have timeshifted with Monroe to India"
Until later becomes now.

The small group had been digging for quite some time now. By now they had excavated nearly 30 feet into the ground. The gapping maw of the hole was nearly twenty feet in diameter. The men had to get down to the bottom of the hole through a very rudimentary wooden seat tied to a several meters of rope. Sir Huxley stood by the border of the hole watching down as the flameless candles that Monroe brought moved frantically in the bottom.

"Have you found anything?" Shouted the Englishman.

A signal was made and some of the men above started to pull on the rope. Huxley ushered them to hurry up as he heard the voice of Monroe coming up from the hole.

Several minutes later Monroe appeared from the darkness below with a grin on his face.

"You found it?" asked Huxley quite exited.

"Yes my friend, it is down there alright." replied Monroe smiling as the two men helped him out of the creaking wooden seat.

"You should see it. It is wonderful, exactly as it was described in the manuscripts back at the D'Arsenal."

"Yes, this is phenomenal Monroe. Now those leatherheades jack asses of the Society will have to eat their papers back. Evolution will be rewritten."

"Hold it there for a second, we can not let this out, not just yet. We have to wait, set up a camp around here and keep the entrance under surveillance. I will go back to England and talk with some of my friends. We will need many more men to help us dig this up."

"You should go down and see it Daniel, it is amazing."

"Back to England? That is insane Monroe. It will take you at least two months to get over there and back." argued Huxley.

Monroe laughed, "No Huxley It will not, now that I know that the Clavicord is down there for sure I will no longer waist anymore time."

"I do not understand, still how does.." Huxley began to say as his words were cut of by the Monroe as he took out from his belt pouch yet another strange contraption.

"Daniel, this is a Chronocron"

The object was a roughly the size of a small apple cut in half. Its front surface was a silvery plane of many lights.

Huxley stood confused but then he replied, "So are you from the Mo-"

Monroe laughed again and put an arm arpound Huxley's shoulders and began to walk with him away from the hole entrance and the men. "Daniel, no I am from another moment in time. I am a traveler and your best friend. There are many things you need to know."

As he said this he took several steps away from Huxley and said "take care my friend"

Then he talked again, but this time to the object, "Computer establish a T-Line to the following coordinates EarthTR128.1295 England, London 748.21 by 015.958 by 325.478. Immediately the object began to hum and a second later Monroe was gone.

Huxley could not believe it, he simply could not believe it.

A pail of water rushed all over her broused body bringing her to consciusness. Rebecca tried to focus her sight but everything was dark. The only thing she knew for sure was that her hands were tied to her back and that somebody had been busy kicking her head for quite some time. As her eyes got accustomed to the darkness she began to distinguish the things around her. Several crates, a small speederpod and more crates. A sort of cargo room or quite possibly a cargo bay. But where?

She concentrated and found one of the many loose filaments in the Stream. She metally got a hold of pne of them and immediately knew. She saw the dark void around the ship she was being kept at. She saw that it was traveling somewhere near the Inner Systems and...another transient was on board.

The doors whoosed open and she saw a figure stood against the lightning outside the corridor.

"Well, well it seems you have been doing your assignment, Rebecca"

"Who are you? Why are you keeping me here?"

"Don't you know little girl?"

Rebecca tried to stand up but fell sideways. "Untie me now I demand it"

"Easy hon. I'll untie you at the proper time and speaking of time, do not try to timeshift away. There is a dampshift field all around this cargo bay. And believe me it will hurt a lot."

The figure reached for a control on the other side of the wall and the doors closed locked once again.

Rebecca was left alone in total darkness and thinking why does she never paid any attention to Monroe.
