Didn\'t Titor change the past?(First post!)

Well, changed his past anyways. By informing the public over a large message board, informing millions of what is to come, assuming he IS right, would'nt he have changed his past and our future?

Think about this:

Now that we know our mistakes, and we know the concequences, will we still go through with it? No!

Your thoughts?

Hmm yes, but that is a selfish deed that only has to do with the user(except for maybe second hand smoke). We're talking our country here. I think our government has that much sense, don't you?

OR there is the theory that if he had NOT come back none of this would've happened. Suppose that he actually altered our future, his past, by coming back.

But if it WAS his past, then perhaps it was HE who set his own past/future in motion. Too complicated to think about just after dinner. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Titor stated on numerous occasions that his actions here do not affect his own worldline - ie. he could have killed his Granddad and no paradox would exist.

If enough people were to believe Titor, would this not swing the war the other way? Remember Titor always said that the war was a necessary evil. He wasn't here to stop it from happening - just to warn people, willing to listen, to make preparations. Now if your Government was Titor's enemy, and they believed him, do you think they will give up their evil plans to dominate the citizen and take away rights just because they know what the future has in store? I don't think so. I think they make damned sure that they do it right and more carefully!

The problem is that in order to influence politics, much more than 50% need to believe the inevitability if changes in policies are not made since a rather large percentage of the people who feel a certain way never do anything to try to influence politics. There are probably less than 1% of the U.S. population that has even heard of John Titor. Unless that figure gets up to 60-70% it won't make a difference. The people that believe in the inevitability of civil and world war if we do not improve policies need to state their case to the masses and pursuade them to influence politicians.

Yeah... He changed OUR past... He constantly referred to our time period as "our word line", as if it didn't effect his own. Maybe he's saying that there infinite possible futures that branch off... Maybe we don't effect him because his future already happened.

This is my first post on this site too!

I ask you this. If a time traveler when back to Germany in 1936 and told Hitler that he would someday make an incredible military error by attacking Russia before Britain had fallen, which would lead to his demise at the hands of a rag tag group of Britain, Russian, Canadian, American and Australian soldiers, do you think he would listen?

Would one man be enough to change the mind of a madman?
