Okay, I just want to make sure I have this right:

It has been PROVEN that light always travels at the same speed, regardless of reference- right?

So it made Einstein think: How is this possible? If a man is on a train travelling 1mph less than the speed of light, and he flashes a flashlight, how can the light travel 186,000 (or whatever) miles per second relative to him without speeding up relative to a stationary object?

And he figured in order for this to happen and make sense, on of the variables in the "S=D/T" equation had to be changed- specifically time.
