many people no doubt already know this so i am probably looking
foolish. if you change an event in the past say the jfk thing wouldnt
it create a loop so that it never would have happened, and you would
not have known to change it? if anyone has there own theorys would you please contact me.

Bryan,
I beleave that you are both right and wrong. You see I beleave that time has a constent speed. This speed is = to the speed of light, acording to Enstine. so if you went back and changed the JFK shooting from that point foward a different realty will form behind the one you left. You see to the people that you left when you went back in time JFK will always be dead becouse the change you created will never catch up to them (think on the terms of sliders).
So if you go back and prevent your parents from meating you will not seace to exest, you just wont exest in one realty of time.

Re:Re:changing past events is impossible

Hello Michael,

That's right, you are emphasising the Multiverse theory.

Time does have a constant speed, not changable at all. It is equal in all dimensions.

Time travelling is jumping to these different dimensions. In effect, what you jump to is a 'PRESENT' time line (different dimension). It just happens to be a carbon copy (if you you travel back) of YOUR TIMELINE'S (dimension's) PAST.

It's very convinient to decide to live for the rest of your life in an alternate dimension, if it's before e.g. you've made a mistake or your friend has died. You can change dimenisions after every mistake you make, if you wish.

REMEMBER EVERYTHING IS RELAVENT YOU, meaning that people in the current time line will in effect not exist RELEVANT TO YOU, if you travel to a different time line; as they have BECOME THE SAME the people in the alternate dimension; as they are now RELEVANT TO YOU.

Until next time,

Well.. Actually nothing is impossible.. but, in this situation, it's quite unlikely that change of history in the past is possible.. for the fact that if u change the past, then in th efuture you wouldnt kno wof it in the first palce to change.. but.. u see, to us, were changing the past and future.. to others its the present.. so it is as if it werent changed.. as einstein stated in the example of the "Observer Effect". as in the observer at the train station and the other on the train with the light.. their observations were different bacause of their "point of origin".. so whos to say that this could not affect the situation.. though gives me a headache sorting it.. so i leave this for you to ponder on.. if you have any questions email me...

Well, changing the past events is impossible, because time traveling will never be possible. There would be no one to travel back into time. Time traveling will never be possible because if it will be, then people from the future would be traveling back into our time. And have they?.....No.

Re:Re:Re:changing past events is impossible

This is all well and good, but multiverse theory still leads to a paradoxical dis-proof.

Anyone who is DOING the jumping to an alternate dimension would HAVE to be aware of this.

If it is possible, then someone HAS already done it. In fact, probably very very many have, if it can ever be done at all. One could even argue that virtually "every-future-one" has at one point done it since everyone has at some time wished they could alter their own past. Once it became possible, the temptation to do so would be overwhelming. Those who have done it would make up a significant portion of our present population. It could be argued that once it becomes possible, there's no reason NOT to do so every time some little thing doesn't go the way we'd like it to. (Being careful not jump back too far before the ability to do was developed, so as to be able to repeat it at any time.) This gets downright manic in its implications.

And yet, there is NO ONE who IS aware of this.

Re:Re:changing past events is impossible

You could quite easily be wrong of course.

Suppose that at some point in the future humans discover how to time travel.

a. Perhaps they have not travelled into OUR past for some reason, only into OUR future (but obviously Their past).

b. They have travelled into our past, but decided not to openly go around admitting it for fear of being committed to an asylum, or spend the rest of their lives being probed in a laboratory.

c. Maybe time travelling into the past is impossible, but not into the future. Hence time travel is possible.

Actually travelling into the future is possible. Simply travel in any moving object. Einstein's theory of relativity kicks in - Time dilation. The faster you travel, the slower that time travels relative to a stationary observer. Well nobody is stationary because of the motion of the Earth and the expanding universe etc, but you get the picture..

As your 'theory' is not based on any scientific theories, are you still quite as sure of your it??

Remember that once people refused to believe that the earth was round(ish) and that the Earth wasn't at the center of the universe, not to mention poor old Darwin's theories.

Re:changing past events is impossible

I beg to differ on this issue based on personal experience. Time travel into the future, at a fairly slow rate, has actually been possible since the mid-20th century, although the secret of time travel was not released to the general public. This process was perfected in the year 2079, when a group of German scientists created the first actual time machine. Approximately two centuries later, backward time travel was invented. This is how I was able to travel back from the year 2421 to the year in which you live, 1999. I am unable to release any information about the future, and I am only authorized to inform you that backward time travel is indeed possible, and the technique is actually quite simple. Finally, in response to your previous post, time travellers such as myself have been strictly ordered not to change any past events, as we remain unaware of the consequences.

Re:Re:changing past events is impossible

Who am I to say you are loony or really from the future, after all, every person who enters this site has some hope that time travel is real. BUT can you really expect anybody to take you seriously unless you prove it by predicting some minor event such as how many people will win lotto on a given date & what amount each person will win, I HONESTLY CANT SEE ANY REAL DANGER IN PREDICTING SOMETHING LIKE THAT, CAN YOU, SO GO AHEAD & PREDICT OUR FUTURE (YOUR SUPOSED PAST)& NOT ONLY WILL YOU HAVE MY UN DIVIDED ATTENTION FOR LIFE, YOU WILL HAVE THE WORLDS, ANOTHER THING WHEN YOU ANNOUNCE THAT TIME TRAVEL IS REAL DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU ARE FROM THE FUTURE, WOULDNT YOUR STATEMENT ENCOURAGE SCIENTIST AROUND THE WORLD TO PERFECT THE METHOD BEFORE ITS TIME AND IN TURN ALTER THE NATURAL COURSE OF HISTORY????????

GOOD LUCK

Re:Re:changing past events is impossible

How much of Star Trek has actually been an accurate prediction of your 'time'??

I'd love to know..Oh, you're not allowed to tell are you. You're just allowed to announce your presence willy nilly.

..By the way, I wouldn't worry about causing paradoxes if I were you. You've either caused one by appearing in our 'time' in the first place. ..Or you didn't and thus your actions are already an integral part of your past..

You can therefore tell us anything you like without any possibilty of 'altering' your native reality. Bye bye..

By the way, I was being sarcastic..

RE: Re:changing past events is impossible

Ok then please tell me do I ever make it big?
Please tell me about the future. Is it
anything like in BTTF2?

RE: Re:changing past events is impossible

I kinda sensed something about you, was out of the ordinary.

I just knew it.

I'll honor your request, but man' that's a long haul off into the future.

If ya get stuck, you can look either Time 12002 or myself up.

I don't ask any questions, however nothing of a military or too spookey of a nature, okay?

I like things to be low keyed and not too spectacular.

I helped Titor get back and his machine was low tech, so,..

You know what I have on my mind, as far as the term Fluffy Bird goes.

Nothing to do with sex, well kind-a sort-a, in a remote sort of way.

Absolutly fab, Darlin, I mean real boss!, Can ya dig it?

Changing the observed present is impossible.

Changing the observed present is impossible because it creates self-contradictions. However, the portion of the past we know is the part that is recorded. Time travellers could have been at many points in history, and any effect they would have on history would work to cause that recorded history to exist in the first place. Prehaps this could be best explained quantum mechanically.
Any events which contradict themselves are impossible, so the wave-functions of matter and energy can never collapse into a likewise state.

Hi i was just thinking the same thing you had posted about and i figured that if you went back in time and if you wanted to change something to would create another universe different from that of today so i was thinking like in back to the future marty didn't do some things that happened on purpose which had changed the univeres he was used to so if he did it on accident he would have never heard of it so that wouldn't be the reason he went back in time to change something so he wouldn't cause a paradox so i think that if you dont do something on purpose (or you do as little as possible) then it would be safe to do what you wanted to change.
