I have been researching out of pure curiosity the John Titor story. I have one claim, and one addition tidbit people might find interesting. If I am wrong and this is old news, then disregard. Or if I am not correct about my claims, please enlighten me. I would genuinely like to understand it better.
Claim: To the best of my knowledge when reading through the archive. I could not find where John predicted a mistake that Stephen Hawking would later admit to.
From what I have read, John mentioned Stephen Hawking's 1974 proposal of micro-singularities were possible that were formed during the big bang. However, those little black holes the size of an electron would evaporate over time. John put in ( ) (Yes, black holes do emit energy) He was stating a known fact. Maybe, not a well-known fact, but he was talking about Hawking Radiation. The existence of such energy was accurately predicted by Stephen Hawking in 1974.
In 2004, (where the mix-up happens) Hawking previously believed INFORMATION (not energy) could not escape a black hole, then revised that in a conference in Dublin to say information can escape, even if only the information would be in a mangled form.
Tidbit:
People may be aware of an attempt for a particular Disney producer to patent the name John Titor for trademark purposes in 2007, but the application was marked as abandoned in 2008. I will post a copy.
There are two names on that application. Maybe someone can shed some light.
NELSON, EDWARD H
Edward Nelson was an American mathematician known for his work in mathematical physics and mathematical logic. He was a professor at Princeton University and made significant contributions to quantum field theory and probability theory. He passed away at the age of 82 in 2014.
JOEL KOSTUCH
Joel Kostuch is known for his work in the entertainment industry, particularly with Disney. He has directed TV shows like “What’s New America” (2014) and “A Day at the Disney Studios” (1995)."
Both of these names appear on the abandoned Patent application. I have heard about Kostuch. But why was a professor of mathematical physics at Princeton on that patent application?
Why was it abandoned?
Personally, I have my theories, but I am curious what anybody else knew or thought about it.
