I fear you are suffering from the same bout of confusion that a friend of mine was yesterday when he heard the news. After talking to him for awhile, he finally agreed he was confusing Arthur C. Clarke with Stanley Kubrick. They are both often confused over their equally important roles in 2001: A Space Odyssey (The Movie). Stanley Kubrick did die in 1999.
