Another Titor thread - GURPS

I promised I would not to post a new thread concerning the John Titor story unless it was something worth posting. I have found a new lead, using the waybackmachine.com, I was able to see the old Art Bell message board, bbs.artbell.com, I thought I would have access to every single one of JT's posts, but unfortunately the waybackmachine only archived a few pages of the message board. Fortunately, the few are very informative.

As I mentioned the Titor history of the future was very similar to an RPG fantasy book called GURPS. The GURPS connections to JT are these:

John Titor’s Dates:
2005-2015: U.S. Civil War
2015: World War III

GURPS Dates:
2004: Civil War in Mexico
2014-2017: U.S. Civil War
2018-2021: World War III

GURPS was written and published by Steve Jackson in 1998.

Has anyone heard of GURPS before this? I haven’t, but I bet “John Titor” has. Someone by the name of “Steve Jackson” posted on the Art Bell board the same time John Titor posted there.

Steve Jackson posted twice, you can read them, someone named Rick Donaldson replied to Steve's post by saying, "Are you Steve Jackson - GURPS Steve Jackson?".

We did discuss that topic at length a couple of years ago on Anomalies and to a smaller degree here. The history timeline for that GURPS mod was very interesting. "Titor is a Liar" Anomalies.net 2001


Spearweasel (Andrew Benton) has appeared on our BBS a couple of times long ago and I've had some email conversations with him. He said that someone may have copied the timeline from their online archive but to the best of his knowledge no one in the mods that he played in or GM'ed was involved.

By the time that Titor came on the scene Spearweasel had moved on from sci-fi to Midieval fantasy RPG GURPS mods. He's still involved with that genre.

Have you read "Alas, Babylon"?

The war story portion of Titor's Saga very obviously came from that Pat Frank novel. I've counted about 20 plot elements that he borrowed from Frank: Central Florida, Omaha, NB, the bicycle tire shortage, the young boy in the shotgun militia, the farmer-general, the orange grower, Russia nuking the USA, the "evil" US cities (the title of the novel itself is a biblical reference to the evil cities)...the list goes on. You should read it.

The time travel portion came from the Internet with a mish-mash of a few pop-sci physics books.

Darby, Yes I have seen that anomolies page, and the spearweasel one, I am aware that the GURPS connection is old. The new info that I posted in my last post was concerning Steve Jackson posting at the Art Bell message board the same time Titor posted, and GURPS being mentioned there. I have more info on the subject but I'll post it on my page.

I've been to a few TT forums over the last few months, I always end-up stumbling across about a million threads on 'John Titor' on each one.

I've never been interested enough in personal time travel claims to bother reading about it. Anyone got a link to a thread where the story is explained from scratch?

To explain it from scratch. TimeTravel_0 posted here first on the old forum.
Then later he went to P2P and posted there at the old Art Bell forum.

Then he been running around from different people, including some imposters, and some that may actually be him again, on other forums (well only a couple), since we been invaded by Johns from multiple worldlines, time and time again, I guess, or at least I am guessing!

So, afterall of that, it was put up at Anomalies where the original threads were copied to, and can be found in the 28 pages of postings there.

Afterall of that, you really should be thinking about some survival, and that also can be researched across the Internet, while you pile up some food, water, supplies to last you for quite a while in your underground bunker, where you download info from the web about John Titor or Timetravel_0 (same person - well some multiple worldline person of different mutliple worldlines - again I would be guessing), while wait for the World trying to avoid an all-out Holocaust because of the way the World is!
Praying to God all the time, to make it, while politics go on in this World, and you are at least living now.
No one likes it though, so that is all anyone can say!
 
What anyone needs here, is to go to Tap-ten enterprises.

At Tap-ten of yahoo tap-ten, then go to photo album.

You will see a guy sitting down in a diver's suet.

He has blond curly hair and is a neoprene wet suet.

Now go to the Titor genre pics, of tthe instructor's jump video.

The guy sitting down in the divers suet and the guy in the jump video, look identical.

Two, how did they fake the laser in the jump video so good.

There is no evidence of any kind of wires hanging of anything.

If you go back to Tap-ten photos, you will see a pair of super magnets, this must be it, the Tap-ten people bent the laser light, using magnets, set outside of a dummy vehicle.

Yes' that's it; I understand now?

You do realize that the story started right here, don't you?

If you go to Anomalies.net you'll find the complete archive of the posts where Titor and TimeTravel_O posted both here and on Post-2-Post.

The Anomalies.net time travel forum is the old Post-2-Post forum. When Art Bell closed his BBS down we moved the Titor discussion to Anomalies along with the Titor threads.
 
Question for Darby. Since you seem to have alot of knowledge about Titor and related data, have you ever examined the pictures of the device closely?

I tried in a photo analysis program but I couldn't get the enlarged portions to focus. The stickers on the panel were my targets. Sometimes the sticker manfacturers/printers put a date/copyright or model number on them.
The visible items could also be identified by manufacturer and unless the unit was built out of junk from our era, this would be definitive proof it was a hoax.

Has anyone ever done that type of research regarding the equipment?

Yeah i got to that section where the entire original thread was posted. No i didnt realise till last night it started here.

I think that Titor is a well spoken and balanced individual. But for me personally i don't think at this point there is enough/any evidence to suggest he was telling the truth. I also think his 'mother' shot both him and herself in the foot by bringing out a book about something that was sketchy at best and started on a forum. She cashed in on the story. there was little story to cash in on in the first place. Not a good sign.

Also there is the possibility that he had some stuff to say (some of which is valid) and took the guise of a time traveller to bring it across. Some of what he says is interesting. Some of it makes me think it's a fraud. Non of it - for sure makes me think its was true.

to be honest i was bored of all the titor threads when i didnt know what it was about. It still bores me now. But like a bad virus the Titor threads won't go away!!
 
Hey creedo, I joined tap-ten yahoo groups and I can see the photo your talking about.

I don't know where this "instructor's jump video" is though, is it a video or a still image
and where is it at?

I think I know how they bent the laser, once my digital camera comes back from the repair
shop I will take a picture of a "bending laser". Sorry super magnets don't effect light, unless they are the size of a planet.
