How would a time traveller manage to infiltrate society? I mean, with all these rules, it couldn't be easy. I was at the Social Security office the other day, attempting to retrieve my card from them (US Citizen hassles, for those across the pond). I needed to retrieve a birth certificate, before they would issue me my card, which was a pain in the ass, since I had no proper identification. I had to have my mother come down and vouch for me.

Now, heres a thought; how would one go about infiltrating society, with all this damned red tape? Would it even be possible to enter any of these modern countries? Retain a vehicle operating permit, earn legal tender through employment? These points would matter, I'd assume. I honestly don't think we're worth the hassle, us in the current time-frame. We're extrememly paranoid, especially here in the States, about illegal immigration. I'd go someplace else, to be honest. Haha. Or, maybe I'm just peeved at the BS one goes through when he/she is a legitimate citizen. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Any thoughts? I didnt even bother to read any of the "time displacement unit" claims on here, but do they explain how to do it? Would taking a name from a gravestone and falsifying information to the proper authorities suffice? I'd imagine they'd be caught relatively quickly in that case.

Just a stupid thought I had.

Millions of otherwise "normal" illegal aliens do it daily. Why would it be any more (or less) difficult for a TT?

If you've read my posts to Faustus you know that I'm not going to give away any secrets for the success of would be criminals vis-a-vis "How to Create False Idenities".

Yes - I do have answers. If you check the Faustus threads you'll see that I answered, in part, your question. But I only suggested solutions that I know are no longer viable because of securities that have been build into society since the 1960's and 1970's.

But I also added that I won't post solutions that are currently viable that I am aware of because they can be used here for "fun" but they can also be used for criminal purposes just as easily. As I suggsted above, illegal aliens use very low tech solutions every day to remain "under the radar" and apparently with a lot of success (considering the absolute number of illegal aliens presently in the USA). The bottom line is that it shouldn't be any more difficult for one class of "illegal aliens" than for any other - even if that class includes time travelers.

I would have to believe that a real TT who wanted to remain out of the sights of government authorities would refrain from posting on the Internet about who and what they are. We remain anonymous here only in the sense that we don't have the power of subpeona, search warrant nor do we have any ability to monitor the Internet hub in Virginia.

So, that would be the best answer to your question: stay quiet, observe, don't post on the Internet and do what other illegals do.

The reason that I answered your question in the manner that I did was because recently we've had a spate of new members who post the same question, make a few perfunctory replies and disappear from the forum only to be replaced a few days later by yet another new member asking the same question.

Its a bit suspicious. My country is at war and I'm not going to post anything that might be used by my enemies to successfully sneak into the USA. That does not mean that I suspect you of being such a person. But posts can be read by anyone who cares to look.

Precisely. Being a time traveler and attempting to create a fictitious identity aren't mutually problematic. If a non time traveler can create a successful cover identity then a time traveler can do it.

And I hate to say it - but I think that we've had yet another new member who stopped bye for no other reason than to ask us questions about how to create a phony ID and then disappeared.

Captain, if I'm wrong here I apologize. But you only made three posts, its been almost two weeks since your last post and the only questions that you asked concerned creating fake ID's...just like,as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, several others have done this summer.

A pattern seems to be emerging here. Hmmm...
