A common cold vaccine is coming!

So everyone gets colds and the sniffles every so often, right? Everyone is miserable, has to take time off work or school, pollute our system with medications that make us feel funny, and hope that we feel better asap. What if I told you that an Austrian scientist, Rudolf Valenta, has created a vaccine for the common cold and it could be on the market in less than a decade!?!

Rudolf Valenta is even to the point where he has registered a patent and is working on selecting the most viable candidate for testing. This development could be exciting and significant since Valenta is confident that he has figured out a way to block the human rhinovirus with a vaccine.

Instead of the immune system trying - and failing - to break into the centre of the virus as usual, the vaccine directs the immune response towards the virus’s outer shell.

I can see this as a good thing and a bad thing for our immune systems overall, but am interested to see how the human trials go and if it will work. Let me hear your thoughts!

I think it is really important that we do not vaccinate against the common cold. As unpleasant as it can be we need to get that common cold every year at least once so that it boosts our immune system against nastier bugs and contagions.

I am pro-vaccine, so I support this. The cold causes secondary fungal/sinus infections and causes kids to miss school. Colds and flus are dangerous for sufferes of asthama as well. I just wonder if it will become available due to the fact that pharmaceutical companies will lose money on over the counter cold medications.

So, rhinovirus doesn't mutate like the flu does? Or the vaccine is able to attack ANY rhinovirus? Could they potentially use the same technology for the flu? Would it be a one vaccine prevents all type of situation or would it need to be done every year?

I tend to err on the cautious side, as due to population increase and us living in a possible ice age, herpes has now been shown to combine with influenza.If it can combine with the flu, then it can combine with colds.
The problem here, is that herpes in combination with some of the bodies processes, acts in a way in similar fashion to Active X, which is a go-for inter-computer system additive mixer.In other words, makes that add on program that roots into your computer system, take the add-on, little better.

Humans are semi-primates, so carry their own brand of herpes, which in some cases is shown to be found at the base of the human spine.*This is where herpes was detected by a pathologist doing a study on the human herpes reservoir. So this is supposed to be in humans.

In ice ages, some of that herpes again acts in similar fashion in molding the human creature to another stage and or level.It may be in some phases that the cold and influenza are necessary as an additive for improvement of the species?

I hope that they invent something for asthma.This seems like a simple fix, medically speaking.
