This is a technical fact that is based in reality and fiction.So it is very difficult to please the MOD asking for the proper catagory for this notation, but I will give this to you anyways.
Please know that the atomic test of the 1950s and 60s were meant to demonstrate a varied approach to how atomic weapons could be detonated.There are exacting records of what expected and non-estimated performances would be in these weapons.Since a lot of the data out-yields are obsolete now, due to technical reasons of practicality, this information is easily accessible.
Here is a conundrum that I must bring forward, as in the detonations and subsequent actions of these devices, there apparently has been an error.
How the 50s and 60s blast presented themselves as an aerial phenomenon, is that after the blast vast amount of radioactive dirt had been sucked up into the higher regions of the atmosphere.
These radioactive particulates in some cases, even the Czar Bomba that was set off some two miles above the surface of the Earth, still had produced radioactive fallout.
These lenses made from atomic materials particles, would act as a doped, or affected by coating lens, so producing a slight amount of radiation sent as a beam on the people below this collection of particles held high in the atmosphere.
There probably were genetic alternations and or effects from these modified sun's rays, however I have not seen an outlay of estimation based in pathology, or how the body reacts, to these past many atomic bomb test.
Now here is the sticky part, as what your'e dealing with as a scientist in reference to a full atomic warhead exchange, as opposed to just a little alteration of the light with an influenced radioactive source, is that these are two completely differing products.
Simplified as conjecture here, the atomic test lightly affected people by altered sun's rays.This is somewhat similar to radioactively treating meat, that is to be sold as food, through a cobalt beam source placed upon the meat or fruit, as it passes that source on a conveyor belt.The meat and fruit are already technically dead, os it does not matter that this same beam shown upon a human, in time would kill that human.
2.Know that in a full atomic exchange of weapons, very vast amounts of radioactive particles are let to hover in the upper atmosphere, so the nature of the now radioactive sun-light showing through, is gross in quality and wholly destructive to any living thing below that lens.
