Time Travel Tourists?

Does anyone know the name of the movie staring Jeff Daniels (I think) where he is visited by time-travelling tourists who arrive in his small town to see a huge meteor shower....I think it caused the death of his wife or something....He uses their technology to change his past?

I've seen it. Can't remember the name. It predicted that New Orleans would burn down during the 1999 Martigraw. One more near miss no doubt.

The recreational time travelers were quite concerned with not being found out. The plot was about one time that they did get spotted. Not changing the (a ) past was part of the "ticket price".
